“Time is the one commodity we all have equally in 24 hours daily. Time management is the ability to control the amount of time spent on specific activities that make up your day. It is one of the determinants of success between different entrepreneurs. Good time management skills make it easier to juggle between work, fun, and family. It contributes to excellent performance on what an individual is doing and the effectiveness of the particular task.

Sal Shakir, an immigrant in the US, shared some of the secrets that contributed to his success. From running 26 businesses and still finding time for other things, the main recipe for his success stood to be time management. Shakir shared some of the factors that contributed to effective time management. Among them are dedication and honesty, accountability and organization, and finally, delegation. These are some of the ingredients to the success of any entrepreneur.

 

Dedication and Honesty

Shakir mentioned that for any business to succeed, the owners must be willing to dedicate as much time as their projection for its success. The amount of time you devote to your business can very well show your love for that particular business. It is because when you love something, you will be willing to put in as much effort as you can to perfect it. If an entrepreneur finds that they cannot dedicate the right amount of time to their business, they then need to reevaluate their goals.

Honesty goes hand in hand with dedication. Every entrepreneur requires to be honest about how much time they are ready to invest in their dream. If an entrepreneur cannot be realistic about how much time they can sacrifice, then they may never achieve their goal of success. Through honesty, someone can know how much time they have and so plan it effectively.

 

Accountability and Organization.

According to Shakir, every entrepreneur needs to be accountable. It could be personally or through a group of people with the same focus. In self-accountability, the entrepreneur can have meetings with themselves and account for every goal achieved. It could be daily or weekly. It helps identify what goals were not achieved and how that is avoidable in the future.

Being organized is relative to Accountability. Shakir advised entrepreneurs to try and plan their days either on the nights before or early in the mornings. He suggested that it would give the structure on how the day would look like, and direction on how to accomplish the day’s activities. He continued to mention that when you have an unplanned day, you cannot account for anything.

Delegation

Most entrepreneurs, according to Shakir, suffer from the fear of delegation. It is because of their belief that it is only them that can do it correctly. He otherwise advised entrepreneurs to try their best and fight this fear. Shakir pointed out that delegation of work gives subordinates a sense of importance and belonging in what they are doing. It, in turn, motivates them to improve their skills, contributing to great results to the end goal.

He advised entrepreneurs to have a better understanding of the whole process first before delegating. It helps with being a good leader and providing guidance. He gave an example in his case where he had to do the real estate business first and made a kill at it. After delegating, he found more time to invest in other fields such as call centers, tech, and doing podcasts to help other entrepreneurs.

Finally, it would be correct to say that entrepreneurship is the mother of an excellent economy. It is also a key to freedom and one being their boss. It is a path that requires a lot of the three discussed factors above. If every entrepreneur could follow these guidelines, they will likely succeed. Shakir has mentioned that if he made it in a foreign English speaking country, one that he barely knew, anyone can. As an entrepreneur, you must learn to plan your time, be accountable, and build trust in your personnel. All this is enough recipe for your success as an entrepreneur, now wake up and implement.”
